DEFOREST<\/strong>  <\/i><\/p>\n

Deforest<\/i> combina el an\u00e1lisis medioambiental con la investigaci\u00f3n sobre materiales. En este proyecto, se utiliza \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico para disolver fotograf\u00edas de un bosque primario. La deforestaci\u00f3n es uno de las causas clave del cambio clim\u00e1tico antropog\u00e9nico. Es responsable de alrededor del 12% de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y causa erosi\u00f3n y p\u00e9rdida de biodiversidad. Deforest<\/i> se centra en este tema de manera \u00fanica, empleando medios fotogr\u00e1ficos y \u00e1cido corrosivo para \u00abmaterializar\u00bb la deforestaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de canales diferentes del simple registro documental. El deterioro de la imagen, la experiencia de su p\u00e9rdida y su relaci\u00f3n con el medio ambiente son los aspectos fundametales de este proyecto.<\/span><\/p>\n

STATEMENT <\/span><\/p>\n

Todo mi trabajo como investigador y videoartista se centra en los archivos: archivos personales, colectivos y ambientales; archivos como piedra de toque para el reencantamiento del pasado; archivos como objetos materiales, por los cuales podemos afirmar que la historia y la temporalidad tienen un medio. En mi trabajo me interesa encontrar nuevas formas de relacionarnos con los archivos, formas que podr\u00edan cambiar la manera en la que nos pensamos a nosotros mismos como individuos y naciones, y entendemos nuestro lugar en un mundo cada vez m\u00e1s sujeto a nuestra voluntad tecnol\u00f3gica y econ\u00f3mica colectiva.<\/span><\/td>\n

\u201cDeforest\u201d combines environmental critique with material enquiry. In this project, sulphuric acid is used to dissolve photographs of old growth rainforest. Deforestation is one of the key planks of anthropogenic climate change. It is responsible for around 12% of the world\u2019s greenhouse gas emissions and causes erosion and biodiversity loss. \u201cDeforest\u201d focuses on this issue in a unique way, using photographic media and a corrosive acid to \u201cmaterialize\u201d deforestation along different channels than the documentary record. The ruin of the image, the experience of its loss and its relation to the environment lie at the core of this project.<\/span><\/p>\n

STATEMENT <\/span><\/p>\n

All my work, as both a scholar and a media artist, is concerned with archives; with personal, collective and environmental archives; with the archive as a touchstone for the re-enchantment of the past; and with the archive as a material thing, the thing by which we can state that history and temporality have a medium. In my work I am concerned with finding new ways of relating to archives, ways that might change how we think about ourselves as individuals and nations, and our place in a world that is increasingly subject to our collective technological and economic will.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
