Mi intenci\u00f3n es dirigir la atenci\u00f3n de las personas hacia el gran problema al que se enfrentan las sociedades ricas hoy en d\u00eda: el gran desperdicio de alimentos y tambi\u00e9n la falta de respeto por el acto mismo de comer. Mediante este proyecto, analizo, como artista visual y ciudadano, las posibles maneras de encontrar soluciones para crear conciencia acerca de los residuos, en un momentos en que la econom\u00eda mundial est\u00e1 temblando. (Recib\u00ed una beca de la Fundaci\u00f3n Puffin para investigar sobre este tema.)<\/span><\/p>\n

STATEMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

Wojciech Gilewicz naci\u00f3 en 1974 en Polonia. Vive y trabaja entre Nueva York y Varsovia. Es pintor, fot\u00f3grafo y autor de videos e instalaciones. Bas\u00e1ndose en su experiencia en la pintura, crea obras formalmente variadas, que tratan de investigar los l\u00edmites del arte y del espacio. El trabajo de Gilewicz provoca una reflexi\u00f3n sobre los mecanismos que rigen la percepci\u00f3n y sus condicionamientos culturales. El autor colabora activamente con el espectador, al que implica tanto en sus proyectos y en la pol\u00e9mica sobre los mitos y estereotipos sobre el arte reciente, su recepci\u00f3n e interpretaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/td>\n

It is my attempt to draw people\u2019s attention to the big problem the affluent societies are faced with today, namely the great food waste and also lack of respect for the very act of eating. With this project I would focus as a visual artist and as a citizen on possible ways of finding solutions to raise awareness about waste, especially in times when global economy is really shaking. (FYI: the Puffin Foundation gave me a grant for research on this topic.)<\/span><\/p>\n

STATEMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

Wojciech Gilewicz was born in 1974 in Poland. He lives and works between New York and Warsaw. He is a painter, photographer and author of videos and installations. Drawing on his experience of the painting medium, he creates formally varied works, which seek to investigate the boundaries of art and space. Gilewicz\u2019s art provokes reflection on the mechanisms which govern perception and its cultural conditioning. The author actively collaborates with the viewer, whom he involves both in his projects and in polemics about myths and stereotypes concerning the most recent art, its reception and interpretation.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
