Wires and Roots explores the idea of landscape and the technology that infuses it. It tells the story of an old root system which takes on an abandoned system of wires.
. STATEMENT My work questions our industrial and technological influence on our physical environment. Specifically, I am interested in how our ecology is altered due to technology we implement to create a more economically productive environment. Using the medium of stop motion, I build and transform landscapes as a result of technology and illustrate their struggle to maintain the needs of the creatures that inhabit them, often represented with bugs or birds. The film discusses life cycles and how they break and change with the physical transformations of the environment. |
